DVLA sets 60% revenue growth target, vows crackdown on corruption

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has been tasked to achieve a 60 per cent increase in revenue by mid-2026, rising from a projected GH¢649 million in 2025 to at least GH¢1.038 billion.

The directive came from Board Chairman George Spencer Quaye at the close of the DVLA’s 2025 Mid-Year Review Conference in Ejisu, Ashanti Region.

He urged the Authority to adopt bold and innovative strategies, expand service points and make full use of digital platforms, including the Vehicle Registration System, to meet the target.

Mr. Quaye also cautioned staff against corruption, stressing that every cedi lost to fraud was a loss to the Republic. “The Board will not tolerate corruption. We will protect integrity, reward transparency, and hold accountable anyone who puts personal gain above national duty”.

He further directed regional managers to make road safety central to their leadership by developing bi-annual strategies and strengthening collaboration with the Police MTTD to ensure compliance.

He noted that many vehicles remain unchecked for roadworthiness.

Commending DVLA Chief Executive Julius Neequaye Kotey for his leadership, the Chairman urged him to fully operationalise the Research Advisory and Data Services framework to make the Authority a hub for evidence-based policy insights.

Mr. Quaye concluded by reminding staff that the DVLA’s role went beyond licensing. “It is a custodian of life, a guardian of order, and a driver of national development,” he said.

The mid-year review was attended by the Deputy Minister for Transport, the Ashanti Regional Minister, DVLA board members, management, regional managers and staff.
