Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has said he will join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the party provided him the platform to serve the country.

Speaking during an interview with Channels TV on Sunday, Mr Musa said he was still in the process of transitioning into politics.

“I’ve not transited yet. I’m in transition,” he said when asked if he was now a politician.

Mr Musa served as Chief of Defence Staff from June 23, 2023, and was appointed Defence Minister following his retirement from military service on October 30, 2025.

Pressed on whether he would eventually align with the APC, the minister said, “Not yet, but I think I’ll be. Definitely. The APC has given me the platform to present myself right from when I was CDS till date, so why not?”

Mr Musa also pledged full support for President Bola Tinubu and his re-election bid, saying, “Mr President needs all support, totally. I’ll give him all my support, whatever I can do to make sure that he succeeds in his call of duty, including moving forward to the second term. I think I’d give him my very best.”

The minister also spoke about the arraignment of military personnel for an attempted coup on president Bola Tinubu.

He stated that the whole plans began because of a disgruntled colonel who felt he’d been passed up for a promotion.

He further added that the military had to be circumspect during investigations, hence the reason for not initially confirming the coup attempt.
