The Defence Headquarters recently revealed the arrest of two security personnel involved in aiding terrorist activities in the North-East of Nigeria.

The two men, part of hybrid forces working with the military to combat insurgency, were detained during a series of operations conducted between April 26 and April 29, 2025. These operations targeted areas such as Bama, Kukawa, and Madagali in Borno and Adamawa States.

The arrests were part of a broader operation that also led to the capture of four individuals suspected of supplying logistics to terrorists.

The military has expressed outrage over the betrayal, urging military commanders to remain vigilant and educate personnel about the potential consequences of sabotage.

The authorities are taking the issue seriously and have called for a thorough review of the conduct within the hybrid forces to prevent further breaches of trust.

“In a well-coordinated operation conducted from 26–29 April 2025 in Bama, Kukawa, and Madagali LGAs of Borno and Adamawa states, troops intercepted four terrorists’ logistics suppliers. Sadly, two of them were confirmed to be members of the hybrid forces,” the Defence Headquarters spokesman said in a statement issued on Saturday.

In the wake of these arrests, the military has also made significant strides in the battle against insurgents. Several targeted operations have been launched in key locations such as Gwoza, Dikwa, and Chibok, leading to the neutralization of numerous terrorists.

Additionally, the military rescued six kidnapped victims and confiscated a large cache of weapons and motorcycles.

Alongside counterinsurgency efforts, troops in the Niger Delta have been making progress in curbing illegal oil refining.

The military seized large quantities of stolen crude oil and fuel, dismantling several illegal refining sites. These efforts reflect a multifaceted approach to securing Nigeria’s borders and resources while combating terrorist and criminal activities across the country.
