“Crass Conduct Unacceptable” — Pro-Tinubu Organisation Slams NBA-AGC Behaviour Involving Seun Okinbaloye

A pro-Tinubu organisation, Renewed Hope Global, has called on Afam Josiah Osigwe, president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), to take immediate corrective measures following what it described as a “shameful spectacle” at the association’s recent annual general conference (AGC) in Enugu.

In a statement, the group expressed dismay over “stage-managed antics” involving journalist Seun Okinbaloye and a “parade of shoddy characters” whose behaviour, according to the group, “desecrated the platform with crass and unbecoming conduct.”

During the AGC, Okinbaloye reportedly asked participants whether their lives had improved under the Tinubu administration, eliciting a majority “No” response from attendees.

Renewed Hope Global said the conduct had subjected Nigeria’s oldest professional membership organisation to public ridicule. “This descent into partisan theatrics and cheap sensationalism is unacceptable,” the statement read.

The group demanded a public apology from the NBA to its members and the Nigerian public, a review of conference protocols to prevent recurrence, and disciplinary action against individuals responsible for bringing the association into disrepute.

It warned that failure to act would be interpreted as tacit approval of the events and could “irreparably damage the credibility” of Osigwe’s administration.

Highlighting the NBA’s prominence, the group noted that the association has over 140,000 lawyers across 129 active branches nationwide, making it Africa’s most influential legal network, and called on its leadership to safeguard its legacy.
