CONQUER YOUR FEARS 

Before Muhammad Ali became the Greatest of All Time, he had one fear- Aerophobia. The fear of flying. Since childhood, he has always been afraid of flying.

In 1960, Muhammad Ali was fighting for a spot in the Olympic team for America. To participate, he had to fly from Chicago to San Francisco. But Muhammad Ali would have none of it. He told his trainer that he would travel by bus to San Francisco, but his trainer reminded him that if he qualified for the Olympics, he would have to fly in the end, so it was better he started flying right away.

This phobia was a tough thing for Muhammad Ali. To display how serious it was, he even reached a point where he decided he would no longer participate in the games. Muhammad Ali had flown once, which was a terrible experience; he promised himself never to try again. However, his trainer would not let him be. His trainer, Joe Martin, kept reminding him of the opportunity before him. If he misses the Olympics, he is missing many big shots for life. The Olympics comes only once in 4 years. Gradually, Muhammad Ali saw that this was the opportunity he could not miss. He resolved that his fear of flying would not stop him from pursuing his passion. He decided to conquer his fear.

What did he do? He went to the army and bought a parachute. He wore it on the plane.

As predicted by his coaches, he won his bouts in San Francisco and was selected to represent the US at the Olympics. Later that year, he traveled to Rome, representing the United States in Amateur boxing; he returned home with an Olympic medal, the highest honor available for an amateur.

Muhammad Ali conquered his fear before he could conquer the world. His fear could have kept him in Chicago, and chances are that we would never have heard of the GOAT.
