Club Brugge Makes Decision on Raphael Onyedika’s Future

Raphael Onyedika will remain at Club Brugge for the remainder of the season, with all parties in agreement over his immediate future.

The decision was jointly taken by the player, the coaching staff, and the club’s board, confirming that Onyedika is not leaving Belgium this summer.

While Club Brugge received multiple offers from Wolfsburg, approaching Club Brugge on final deadline day, Aston Villa having the player on their shortlist and Frankfurt inquiry about him, the club ultimately chose to stick to its long-term plan.

Sources indicate that the original agreement has always been to consider a transfer in the summer.

The player is considered a very important part of the club’s project under head coach Ivan Leko, as the club hopes to win the league and go as far as possible in the UEFA Champions League.

Onyedika’s stay provides stability and continuity for Club Brugge as they head into the next two league matches against Standard Liege and Cercle Brugge and also their UCL playoff match against Atletico Madrid.

The Nigeria international has played nine matches in the UEFA Champions League, including the qualification rounds and had 16 appearances in the Belgian Pro League.
