Club Brugge head coach Ivan Leko has played down speculation linking Raphael Onyedika with a January move away from the Belgian champions, insisting the midfielder remains part of his plans.

Onyedika has been heavily linked with Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray, with reports suggesting the Nigerian international has already agreed personal terms with the Istanbul-based club.

The transfer rumours intensified after his Super Eagles teammate Victor Osimhen claimed earlier this week that he had encouraged Onyedika to consider a move to Turkey.

However, Leko has firmly dismissed suggestions that the defensive midfielder is set to depart this month, stating that no one at the club has informed him of any impending transfer.

“Nobody told me he’s leaving,” Leko was quoted as saying by Voetbalnieuws. “What I’ve seen? He’s training with us again, he’s in good spirits, and he’s behaving normally. I see no reason why Rapha can’t play. He’ll be in the squad.”

The Club Brugge boss also made it clear that he remains unfazed by the constant speculation surrounding the player’s future, stressing his experience in dealing with transfer-window noise.

“People are chattering and speculating about transfers, but I’m staying calm,” Leko added. “We’ll see what happens. We’ll only know more when the transfer window is over. But I’m not worried about Onyedika. I’ve been in football for thirty years: I’m not stupid.”

Onyedika remains a key figure for Club Brugge, and unless there is a late twist in the transfer window, he appears set to continue the season in Belgium despite growing external interest.
