Celtic add Moffi to shortlist amid uncertain future at OGC Nice

Celtic remain active in their search for attacking reinforcements with Terem Moffi emerging as a new name on the club’s shortlist as they assess options to boost their firepower.

The 26-year-old striker, on the books of OGC Nice, is believed to be available following a turbulent spell in Ligue 1. 

Reports suggest Porto and Beşiktaş are also exploring loan moves for the Nigeria international.

According to Stephen McGowan of The Herald (Celts Are Here), Celtic are closely monitoring Moffi’s situation and view him as one of several striking options who could add depth and a different profile to Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

Moffi’s season in France has been disrupted by off-field issues. In December, following Nice’s 3–1 defeat to Lorient, tensions boiled over as hundreds of ultras confronted the team bus. Moffi was among the players reportedly subjected to verbal and physical abuse, prompting Nice to place him on sick leave for a week as a precaution.

Although Moffi remains under contract at Nice until the summer of 2027, there are indications that discussions have taken place regarding a possible contract termination. In the short term, the French club appear open to a loan move if suitable terms can be agreed.

Celtic have already strengthened up front this winter with the loan-to-buy signing of Tomáš Čvančara, but there is an acknowledgement within the club that further attacking options may be required if the Hoops are to wrestle the title back in their favour.
