Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has unveiled plans for Anthony Joshua to face Tyson Fury later this year, contingent on Tyson Fury defeating Oleksandr Usyk first.

Hearn made this revelation during a recent interview with Piers Morgan, addressing a question about darts sensation Luke Littler. The long-awaited showdown between Joshua and Fury, both heavyweight superstars, has been a subject of discussion for quite some time and appears to be on the brink of materializing.

While Joshua is yet to announce his next opponent after his recent victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, Hearn expressed confidence in the Joshua vs. Fury clash happening this year. He stated, “Because the darts Championship happens in December and January, I’m gonna say that Fury vs AJ happens this year.”

Previously, both Joshua and Fury had agreed to a fight, but negotiations fell through, leading Fury to face Deontay Wilder in a trilogy showdown. In the interim, Usyk surprised the division by defeating Joshua twice to claim his previous championship belts.

Hearn outlined Joshua’s upcoming fights, indicating that after a bout with Dillian Whyte on August 12th, Joshua will face Deontay Wilder in Saudi Arabia before potentially meeting Tyson Fury. Hearn emphasized Fury’s necessity to defeat both Usyk and Joshua to solidify his standing as a true boxing great.

He also criticized Fury’s decision to turn down the fight against Usyk, branding it as the most important match in boxing for the undisputed heavyweight world championship, suggesting that Fury’s motivations primarily revolve around financial gain.
