Bandits Reportedly Abduct Lawmaker, Two Wives In Night Raid

Suspected bandits on Monday night reportedly abducted a councillor, Hon. Dan Musa Garin Kwairi, alongside his two wives in Futuk community, Gwana District of Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The victims were reportedly taken from their residence in Futuk-west constituency, which Hon. Garin Kwairi represents in the local council.

Sources said the gunmen stormed the councillor’s home late in the night and whisked him and his wives away to an undisclosed location, according to an X (formerly Twitter) user, @DanKatsina50.

Witnesses said the assailants moved swiftly and appeared to have targeted the residence directly.

The incident occurred in the Gwana District of Alkaleri Local Government Area, an area that has witnessed sporadic security challenges in recent times.

Residents said the attack has heightened tension across the community, with many expressing fears of a widening security crisis.

Some community members have reportedly begun taking precautionary measures, while others called on security agencies to intensify patrols and intelligence-gathering efforts in the area.

As of press time, there was no official statement from the Bauchi State Police Command regarding the abduction.

Efforts to confirm the incident from the Police failed as the Public Relations Officer of Bauchi Police Command, Ahmad Wakili, did not answer calls made to his mobile phone number.

The latest incident has raised fresh concerns about the resurgence of bandit activities in parts of the state, with residents urging security agencies to take urgent and decisive steps to curb the emerging wave of attacks in Gwana District and prevent further escalation.
