Mumbai-base Atomberg's co-founder Sibabrata Das has been appointed as the CEO, taking charge of day-to-day operations and the company’s consumer appliances portfolio, which includes fans, water purifiers and kitchen products. He previously served as chief operating officer.

Meanwhile, co-founder Manoj Meena has moved into the role of chairman and managing director, while also becoming CEO of Atomberg Innovation, a subsidiary focused on motors, drives and cooling technologies.

In a LinkedIn post, Meena said the shift reflected the company’s evolution along two parallel tracks.

“A few years ago, Sibabrata (Shibam) Das and I asked ourselves a different question at Atomberg: could the core technologies we were building around motors and drives create impact beyond the appliance industry?” he wrote.

That exploration led to the creation of Atomberg Innovation, which he described as a “zero-to-one journey” that has now reached a stage requiring “dedicated founder-level attention”.

The unit has developed proprietary technologies being deployed in air conditioning and refrigeration products, and supplied to both established appliance makers and newer sectors.

At the same time, Meena pointed to the strength of Atomberg’s consumer-facing business as a reason for appointing a dedicated operational leader.

“At the same time, Atomberg's consumer business is in the strongest shape it has ever been in. The brand is loved, the products are strong, and the team is the best we have ever had. A business at this stage deserves a single leader holding the wheel day-to-day.” he said.

He added that Das, his long-time collaborator, was best placed to lead the division: “I cannot think of a better person to lead this part of the business.”

The restructuring formalises a split between Atomberg’s revenue-generating appliances business and its deep-technology ambitions. The company’s product range includes energy-efficient brushless direct current (BLDC) and smart fans, mixer grinders, smart locks, water purifiers and juicers.

Atomberg has raised more than $150 million to date, including a $24 million funding round in December led by Temasek, with participation from its co-founders.

The changes come as the company moves closer to a potential initial public offering, reportedly targeting around $200 million-$220 million.
