Atiku Strengthens South-East Campaign Structure, Appoints Odunze as Community Mobilisation Aide

Former Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has appointed Omega Odunze as Special Assistant on Community Mobilisation (South-East) as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen his grassroots political network ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The appointment, announced by the Atiku Media Office on Thursday, underscores the campaign’s strategy of expanding community engagement and building stronger connections with key stakeholders across the South-East region.

According to the statement, Odunze’s appointment took effect from April 1, 2026, and is aimed at enhancing grassroots mobilisation, strategic community outreach, and citizen participation in the democratic process.

The campaign described the appointment as a reflection of its commitment to fostering inclusive participation, national unity, and people-centred development through stronger engagement with communities at all levels.

Odunze, an indigene of Imo State, is a literary scholar and Chief Executive Officer of Khaimaenergy Ltd. He is widely known for his involvement in community development initiatives, humanitarian interventions, peacebuilding programmes, and agricultural empowerment projects.

Over the years, he has worked with several local and international organisations, including CARE International and Mercy Corps International, where he contributed to community engagement, conflict resolution, health advocacy, and livelihood improvement programmes.

His experience also includes supporting agricultural empowerment initiatives through greenhouse plantation projects aimed at improving food security and economic opportunities for rural communities.

In his new role, Odunze is expected to coordinate grassroots mobilisation activities across the South-East, working closely with zonal, state, local government, ward, and polling unit coordinators within the Atiku 2027 campaign structure.

He will also engage traditional rulers, community leaders, youth and women groups, faith-based organisations, civil society groups, professionals, and other stakeholders to broaden support for the campaign’s vision and encourage greater citizen participation in the electoral process.

The Atiku 2027 Presidential Project reiterated its commitment to promoting inclusive leadership, economic transformation, youth empowerment, security, and good governance, pledging continued engagement with Nigerians across the country’s geopolitical zones in pursuit of what it described as a more equitable and prosperous nation.
