Wendy Shay clarifies why she couldn’t accept a drink at Ga Mantse’s Palace

Wendy Shay has addressed the talk surrounding a moment at the Ga Mantse’s palace where she rejected a drink offered to her.

The singer explained that the gesture was misunderstood, as she was simply following medical instructions while preparing for her upcoming performance. She stressed that she had gone to the palace out of respect, noting that it was her third time performing on the Ga Mantse’s land and she felt it was important to pay homage.

According to her, the drink presented was Schnapp, not water, and she had been advised by her doctor to avoid alcohol completely because of medication she was taking. “My doctor told me not to even let alcohol touch my tongue,” she said, explaining that accepting the drink could have affected her health and ability to perform, emphasizing that her decision had nothing to do with rejecting tradition or disrespecting the palace.
