Nigeria striker Asisat Oshoala has signed a two-year deal with Saudi Women’s Premier League side Al-Hilal, completing a move from Bay FC in the United States.

The 30-year-old becomes the third Nigerian international at the Riyadh club, linking up with Ashleigh Plumptre and Francisca Ordega.

Oshoala joined Bay FC from Barcelona ahead of the NWSL club’s inaugural 2024 season, scoring a team-high seven goals and netting their first-ever goal against Angel City in March.

A six-time African Women’s Player of the Year and Champions League winner with Barcelona, Oshoala brings vast international experience, having helped Nigeria secure its 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations crown in 2023.

Bay FC sporting director Matt Patter hailed her impact, calling her “a world-class player and an even better person” in a farewell statement.

Born in Ikorodu, Oshoala was the first African woman nominated for the Ballon d’Or in 2022, although she lost to then Barcelona teammate Alexia Putellas of Spain.
