Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has announced a new integration that connects its Claude AI assistant with Microsoft 365 apps, making it easier for teams to find information and work faster. With this update, Claude can now access and analyze content from Word documents, Outlook emails, and Teams messages directly during chats—without users needing to upload files manually.

The new integration connects Claude with OneDrive and SharePoint, allowing it to search, summarize, and extract insights from files stored across an organization. This is useful for teams who work with large amounts of information across multiple tools. Instead of searching through folders and email threads, users can now simply ask Claude questions like:

• “Summarize the last meeting notes from our strategy team.”
  
• “Find the latest marketing proposal and list key action points.”
  
• “What was the customer feedback trend last quarter?”
  

Available for Teams and Enterprise Users

The Claude Microsoft 365 integration is now available for users on Claude Team and Enterprise plans, but company administrators must enable it before employees can connect their Microsoft accounts. Once activated, Claude can pull context from:

• Microsoft Outlook – to summarize emails or analyze threads
  
• Microsoft Teams – to search messages, channels, and meeting summaries
  
• SharePoint & OneDrive – to access documents and presentations
  

Claude Gets Enterprise Search

Alongside the Microsoft 365 connection, Anthropic also introduced Enterprise Search—a feature that lets Claude search across a company’s internal tools and knowledge bases. This makes it easier to onboard team members, answer strategic questions, and locate internal experts faster.

Powered by Model Context Protocol (MCP)

The integration uses Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP)—an open-source standard that connects AI tools with external apps securely. Microsoft has also adopted MCP as part of its shift toward AI-powered Windows PCs.
