Another superstar encourages the House of Black to leave Malakai Black

Where there is smoke, there is fire. AEW has made a strong point in recent programming to set up the House of Black to break free from its leader. First, it was Will Ospreay urging Buddy Matthews to go his own way. Next, Adam Copeland encouraged Brody King and Julia Hart to take the reins. The House always wins, but their future may be without Malakai Black.

King’s night started with a dominating victory over Trevor Blackwell on Collision (Jan. 11, 2025). Hart was ringside to support the thunderous Gonzo Bomb victory.

Backstage, King acknowledged that it is a confusing time for the House of Black. Cope stepped in to show his respect for their group. King, Matthews, and Hart have all the potential. It’s time for them to run.

These messages of support for the House of Black come at an interesting time on screen and off screen. Rumors are bubbling that Malakai has finished his time with AEW with expectations of possibly returning to WWE. Without Malakai in the picture, it would make sense for AEW to craft a direction for the House of Black in his absence. In the story sense, it is interesting to see which way this trio of characters evolves. King is becoming a fan favorite due to his toughness and bulldozing style. Hart was clearly a heel in the recent beef with Jamie Hayter. Matthews doesn’t have much of a voice yet, however, he consistently puts on good matches. If Malakai happens to return, then there is room for all sorts of drama within the House of Black.
