Amazon Announces December 10 Release Date for New Kindle Scribe Models

Amazon Announces December 10 Release Date for New Kindle Scribe Models

Amazon has finally confirmed when its new Kindle Scribe models will hit the market. According to Amazon spokesperson Rachel Erickson, both the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft and the updated Kindle Scribe will officially be available starting December 10th, 2025. This announcement comes months after Amazon first revealed the refreshed lineup in September.

The new devices maintain their original launch prices:

  • Kindle Scribe Colorsoft – $629.99
  • Kindle Scribe (with front light) – $499.99

Amazon also noted that preorders will not be available, meaning buyers will have to wait until launch day to purchase.

A Bigger, Lighter, and Thinner Design

The updated Scribe models feature noticeable hardware improvements. Both tablets now come with larger 11-inch screens, making them ideal for reading, note-taking, and document review.

Amazon also redesigned the build:

  • Weight: 400 grams
  • Thickness: 5.4mm — thinner than the iPhone Air
  • Screen Material: A new texture-molded glass that creates more friction, making the pen feel more natural when writing.

The front-light versions also include a new lighting system using miniaturized LEDs, improving brightness consistency and energy efficiency.

New Pen with Stronger Magnetic Attachment

Amazon is introducing an upgraded pen across the Scribe lineup. The new stylus has:

  • Stronger magnets for improved snap-to-device attachment
  • A more durable, comfortable build for long writing sessions

This is especially helpful for users who regularly misplace their pens or use the Scribe for intensive note-taking.

A More Affordable Scribe Is Coming — But Not Yet

Amazon also announced a $429.99 Kindle Scribe without a front light. While it is the most affordable option in the lineup, it will not launch on December 10th. Instead, Amazon says it will arrive sometime in 2026, with exact timing yet to be confirmed.

This budget-friendly version is aimed at readers and students who want the Scribe experience without the added cost of front lighting.

What This Means for Kindle Users

With the new Scribe lineup, Amazon is clearly targeting users who want a more premium reading and writing experience.
The:

  • larger display,
  • thinner build,
  • smoother writing surface, and
  • updated lighting

make these new models the most advanced Kindle Scribes yet.

For users who prefer physical note-taking but love the convenience of digital tools, the December 10 launch could be one of Amazon’s biggest hardware updates of the year.
