Al Kholood owner praises Troost-Ekong’s leadership

Al Kholood owner Ben Harburg has praised Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong for his leadership and maturity at the Saudi Pro League club.

The Harburg Group acquired Al Kholood this summer, making history as the first foreign owners in the Roshn Saudi League. Troost-Ekong, who joined the team after captaining Nigeria to the AFCON 2023 final, has quickly become central to the new project.

“To have someone like William on my team is a dream come true. And more importantly, because he’s a tremendous human being,” Harburg told SPL.

“He’s a great leader, very mature, he’s seen everything, played everywhere. With the instability and challenges we’re facing during this handover, his presence is absolutely essential.

“That’s the No.1 thing he provides today — maturity and leadership in the locker room. In the future, we’re excited to engage him further and connect with his fans in Nigeria and around the world.”
