After Zomato, Swiggy also raises platform fee to Rs 17.58 on every order as it chases profitability

Food delivery platform Swiggy has raised its platform fee to Rs 17.58 per order, including GST, up from Rs 14.99, an increase of nearly 17%. The revised charge is now displayed at checkout, where the company said it helps “operate and maintain Swiggy platform”. The move comes days after rival Zomato increased its own platform fee by Rs 2.40 per order, taking its pre-GST charge to Rs 14.90. Swiggy last revised its fee in August 2025, raising it to Rs 14 in select areas amid a surge in order volumes. Swiggy last revised its fee in August 2025, raising it to Rs 14 in select areas amid a surge in order volumes. The company first introduced the charge at Rs 2 in April 2023 and has steadily increased it since then.

The latest increases come at a time of heightened competition in the sector, including the entry of new services such as Rapido’s Ownly in Bengaluru, as well as wider cost pressures.

Swiggy reported a 54% year-on-year rise in operating revenue to Rs 6,148 crore in the third quarter of FY26. However, its losses widened to Rs 1,065 crore over the same period, underlining the continuing challenge of balancing growth with profitability.
