80-Year-Old Bishop Tuimising to Lead 480km Walk from Nairobi to Mombasa

At 80 years old, Bishop Dr. William Tuimising, EBS of Deliverance Church International, will this December attempt what most people, health specialists included, would consider impossible: leading a walk of more than 480 kilometers from Nairobi to Mombasa to raise funds for vulnerable schoolgirls in Marsabit.

The Deliverance church Emeritus is said to have served the church for more than 63 years, and this walk initiative is driven by his lifelong philosophy that exercise and keeping fit are part of living well, serving well, and finishing well.

Bishop William Tuimising explained that he is not walking for himself but for the gospel and to awaken the nation.

The event is set to commence on the second day of next month, December 2, 2025, and will stretch till December 20, 2025, and will be flagged off at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

The congregants and participants of the missionary-themed walk will trek from Nairobi to Machakos, Kajiado, Makueni, and Mombasa through Voi, targeting a daily coverage of 30 kilometers, given the terrain and varying weather patterns.

Tagging along in this journey are Dr. William Sifuna of the National Disaster Management Unit in the National Police Service, Mr. James Onsongo, and Commander Steve Strong, the Founder & Patron of Strong Men Factory.

This collaboration seems to be forming a powerfully diverse intergenerational team committed to transforming lives through service, wellness, and compassion.

William Tuimisin walks for Fitness and Missionary Work Purpose

This is a walk initiative of its own kind, as it blends physical fitness and spirituality for the benefit of the community, this time not just for the church, as most have been.

“This walk is not a mere physical challenge. It is a moving declaration of faith, wellness, and responsibility to those in need.”

According to Tuimising, the initiative’s goals for this great walk include promoting physical fitness as a foundation for purposeful living, spreading the gospel, strengthening community connections across Kenya, and raising funds to support Sasura Girls School in Marsabit County, where students endure unimaginable hardship due to severe water scarcity.

It is reported that on a usual day, a girl at Sasura Girls School mostly survives on 20 liters of water for three days, which greatly affects hygiene, dignity, and learning.

Through this walk, the leadership team hopes to drill a sustainable borehole for continuous, clean water, upgrade classrooms, create a conducive learning environment, and inspire a national movement around wellness, service, and mission-driven leadership.
