24 Kidnapped Kebbi Schoolgirls Regain Freedom

In a significant relief for the nation, all 24 schoolgirls who were tragically abducted by bandits from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, have been successfully released.

The announcement confirming their freedom was made on Tuesday by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy.

“I am relieved that all the 24 girls have been accounted for. Now, we must urgently deploy more boots on the ground in vulnerable areas to prevent further kidnappings. My government will provide all necessary support to achieve this,” the statement quoted the President as saying.

The President’s Swift Action

The successful release follows immediate and decisive action taken by the Presidency in the wake of the attack.

Following the initial abduction, President Tinubu had promptly ordered the Minister of State for Defence to relocate to Kebbi State. The Minister’s directive was to personally coordinate all rescue and security efforts on the ground, emphasizing the seriousness with which the government viewed the crisis.

While commending the security agencies for their successful operation, the President also issued a strong warning that the work is far from over.
