2027: Christian leaders impressed with Olatunji’s LG administration, publicly declare endorsement for Reps bid

Christian leaders and Pastors under the umbrella of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) under Oluyole Local Government, have publicly endorsed the candidacy of Engr. Akeem Olatunji for election into the House of Representatives ahead of the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

The leaders expressed confidence in his capacity to effectively represent the people of Oluyole Federal Constituency following what they described as an impressive performance at the local government administration level.

The endorsement was made on Sunday at the Oluyole Local Government Secretariat during a special prayer session organised by the Oluyole chapter of CAN to seek divine intervention for peace, safety and security across Oyo State.

The event, attended by Christian leaders, pastors and members of the association, also provided an opportunity for the Christian community to commend Olatunji’s administration at the local government level and his reported support for Christian organisations and community initiatives in Oluyole.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of CAN in Oluyole, Rev. Michael Paulson, urged Christians in the constituency to become more actively involved in the political process, stressing that their participation was crucial to determining the quality of leadership at all levels.

Paulson called on members of the Christian community to come out en masse during the forthcoming elections to support Olatunji and other candidates of the Allied People’s Movement (APM).

He said Christians should not abandon the political space to others, noting that active participation would enable them to contribute to the emergence of leaders committed to peace, good governance, accountability and development.

The CAN chairman described Olatunji as a “God-chosen vessel” for Oluyole, expressing confidence that his experience, humility, accessibility, and relationship with his people would enable him to provide effective representation at the National Assembly.

He also commended Olatunji for what he described as his consistent support for CAN and the Christian community in Oluyole, saying his interventions had demonstrated a willingness to work with faith-based organisations for the advancement of society.

The Christian leaders further prayed for Olatunji’s political aspiration and the overall peace and prosperity of Oluyole and Oyo State.

Responding to the endorsement, Olatunji expressed appreciation to the CAN leadership and members for their prayers, support and confidence in his political pursuit.

He pledged to continue working closely with the Christian community and other faith based stakeholders to promote the development and welfare of residents of Oluyole Federal Constituency if elected to the House of Representatives.

Olatunji also promised to approach the proposed responsibility with integrity, transparency and accountability, stressing that the interests and welfare of the people would remain at the centre of his representation.

He further pledged to support the renovation of the CAN chapel and provide additional assistance towards the completion of the association’s new secretariat currently under construction in Oluyole.

The APM candidate also joined the Christian leaders in praying for lasting peace and security across Oyo State.

He expressed optimism that the prayers would contribute to a safer environment and renewed hope among residents, while calling for continued cooperation among religious, traditional, political and various community leaders in tackling challenges confronting the state.
