A 15-year-old Ghanaian immigrant has died after being shot in the Bronx, New York City, on Thursday, October 29, police have confirmed.

The teenager, identified as Javits Frimpong, died at a hospital after being shot near the intersection of Crotona Place and East 171st Street shortly before 9:30 a.m., authorities said.

According to sources who spoke to PIX11, the teenager was shot in the abdomen and was found in and out of consciousness.

Police are searching for three men believed to be involved in the shooting. The suspects were last seen wearing black clothing and were reportedly fleeing along Fulton Avenue. Two of the men were wearing surgical masks.

Surveillance footage shows a person fleeing the scene who matched the description provided by police: a black hoodie, black sweatpants and a mask. Authorities said the victim managed to run about a block after being shot before collapsing. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Speaking to journalists, the victim’s father, Thomas Frimpong, said his son had moved to the United States from Ghana about a year ago and had complained about being bullied by some students at school.

He also revealed that two students had been suspended for repeatedly bullying his son.
