Superchargers have never been very common in mainstream production cars for a variety of reasons. Turbochargers are typically cheaper and more efficient, using exhaust gas rather than parasitic load on the engine to force in more air. There are not many supercharged production cars still on sale in the US, but many of them are still well-remembered today for their distinctive blower whine and immense power. Few people will soon forget a Shelby Mustang or a Dodge Hellcat, but what about the more obscure cars that were also sold with superchargers?
