House Of Reps Passes Independent Candidacy Bill Into Law

Some youths on Monday took to the streets of Ikeja in Lagos State to protest the allocation of Sports Utility Vehicles for lawmakers in the country.

The youths, in a video shared on the microblogging platform, X, held placards with various inscriptions like ‘Public funds not for luxury of a few’,Stop NASS car purchase’, etc.

Recall, the leadership of the National Assembly had announced the decision to purchase imported SUVs for each lawmaker and bulletproof vehicles for the principal officers running for over millions.

The move has generated heavy criticism, with many lampooning the parliamentarians for being insensitive to the plight of Nigerians amid the high cost of living.

Lawmakers in the Green Chamber have started taking delivery of their Sports Utility Vehicles.

Similarly, legislators in the Red Chamber will receive the first batch of the SUVs this week.

You Are Insensitive For Planning To Buy SUV Of N160 Million While Nigerians Are Suffering

Meanwhile, New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Chieftain, Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has berated Nigerian senators over the plan to purchase SUVs worth 160 million each.

He insisted that the legislators were insensitive to the current suffering of the ordinary Nigerians.

Speaking via a statement issued on Friday and made available to Naija News, Oguntoyinbo said the lawmakers were pretending to be unaware of the suffering of Nigerians presently.

He lamented that the citizenry are going through harsh circumstances due to the removal of fuel subsidy yet the senators were having a field day with the nation’s resources.

The NNPP chieftain wondered how those who are meant to represent the people could be so uncaring.
