Yilwatda Hails Tinubu at 74, Describes President as Architect of a New Nigeria

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has congratulated Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion of his 74th birthday, describing the President as the “architect of a new Nigeria” whose leadership is driving transformative reforms across the country.

Yilwatda, who spoke on behalf of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), leaders, stakeholders, members and supporters across Nigeria and in the diaspora, said the milestone provides an opportunity not only to celebrate the President’s life but also to reflect on his enduring contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development and nation-building.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the National Chairman on Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, the APC chairman said Tinubu’s political journey has profoundly shaped Nigeria’s democratic evolution and governance trajectory.

According to Yilwatda, the President’s life has been defined by uncommon vision, resilience and a deep commitment to the growth and stability of Nigeria.

He said Tinubu has consistently distinguished himself as a patriot, reformer and bridge-builder who has always placed national interest above personal comfort.

The APC chairman noted that from his days in the trenches of the pro-democracy struggle to his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, and now as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Tinubu has remained a symbol of purposeful leadership and progressive governance.

Yilwatda said Nigeria is currently witnessing what he described as a decisive era of courageous leadership and transformational reforms under the President’s watch.

He observed that Tinubu assumed office at a critical period in Nigeria’s history but has demonstrated statesmanship by confronting long-standing structural challenges in the country’s economy and governance system.

“Rather than postpone difficult but necessary decisions, President Tinubu has initiated bold and far-reaching reforms aimed at laying a sustainable foundation for national prosperity, economic stability and inclusive growth,” he said.

According to him, the administration’s reform agenda is strategic and designed to reposition Nigeria for productivity, competitiveness and long-term resilience.

He explained that under Tinubu’s leadership, the country is undergoing what he described as a broad recalibration of its economic and governance systems.

Yilwatda said the Federal Government has taken steps to stabilise the economy, restore investor confidence, strengthen fiscal discipline, improve revenue generation and deepen infrastructure development.

He added that the administration is also pursuing reforms across critical sectors while expanding social intervention programmes and creating an enabling environment for enterprise and innovation.

“These reforms, though demanding in the short term, are foundational and transformative in their long-term implications,” he said.

The APC chairman further noted that the President has remained committed to his “Renewed Hope” agenda through policies aimed at improving livelihoods, supporting vulnerable citizens and boosting key sectors such as agriculture, industry and energy.

He said the administration is also prioritising improved access to education and healthcare, while working to enhance the ease of doing business in Nigeria.

Yilwatda commended the government’s focus on infrastructure renewal, digital innovation, youth empowerment, local production, social investment and stronger collaboration with subnational governments.

He also praised the administration’s efforts to strengthen national security and preserve the unity of the country.

“President Tinubu’s leadership style reflects firmness, clarity of purpose and political wisdom. At a time when the nation requires courage more than convenience, he has shown the character and capacity of a leader prepared to make history, not merely manage it,” he said.

The APC chairman acknowledged that reforms often come with temporary hardship but expressed confidence that the policies being implemented would ultimately produce a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.

He added that the President continues to inspire confidence across the country through his dedication to democratic ideals, institutional strengthening and responsible governance.

“As he celebrates his 74th birthday, we honour not just his age but the depth of his service, the strength of his convictions and the historic significance of his leadership at this defining moment in our nation’s journey,” Yilwatda said.

He prayed for renewed strength, wisdom and good health for the President to continue steering the nation toward peace, stability and sustainable prosperity.
