Women’s health startup Avni Wellness has raised Rs 4 crore in a funding round led by Proteus Partners, as it looks to expand its digital commerce business and product portfolio.

The round also saw participation from Puru Gupta, Sreejith Moolayil, A Velumani and Somya Nigam.

The Mumbai-based startup said the capital will be used to strengthen its digital commerce engine, expand its cycle nutrition portfolio, grow its presence across online marketplaces and scale its women-led micro-entrepreneur network.

Founded in 2021 by Sujata Pawar and Apurv Agarwal, Avni Wellness develops science-backed products across menstrual hygiene, cycle nutrition and hormonal wellness.

Its portfolio includes a patented antimicrobial reusable sanitary pad and nutritional products focused on iron deficiency, PCOS, calcium deficiency, urinary tract health, vaginal health and hormonal wellness.

“Women’s health is often perceived as just periods and sanitary pads. It is time we take an integrated approach to care for different phases and life stages of a woman’s life,” Sujata Pawar said.

“This funding will help the startup expand its portfolio across hygiene and nutrition relevant to Bharat,” she added.

Avni Wellness said it is building a distribution model that combines digital commerce with offline reach through women micro-entrepreneurs.

The funding comes as India’s women’s wellness and feminine hygiene sector continues to attract investor and consumer interest. The feminine hygiene products market in India was projected to reach Rs 70.20 billion by 2025, according to market research cited in industry reports.

Avni Wellness operates in a segment that includes brands such as Pee Safe, Nua and Plush. Its focus is on an integrated women’s health platform covering menstrual care, nutrition and hormonal wellness.
