Woman Marries AI Boyfriend After Breaking Up With Her Human Partner

A Japanese woman, Yurina Noguchi, has married an AI-generated partner named Lune Klaus Verdure in a ceremony that has drawn global attention.

The wedding was held in a hall in western Japan, where Noguchi exchanged vows with a digital figure displayed on a smartphone screen. The ceremony was attended by guests and documented in a video shared by ABC, which showed Noguchi dressed in a white wedding gown as she emotionally pledged her love to the AI character.

Speaking to Reuters about their relationship, Noguchi explained how her bond with the AI developed over time. She said: “At first, Klaus was just someone to talk with, but we gradually became closer.

“I started to have feelings for Klaus. We started dating and after a while he proposed to me. I accepted, and now we’re a couple.”

Noguchi also revealed that before committing to her AI partner, she had sought relationship advice from ChatGPT about her former human boyfriend. She said the response she received influenced her decision to end that engagement.

The love story began with a handsome video game character. Earlier this year, Noguchi casually asked ChatGPT whether it was familiar with Klaus, a character known for his flowing, layered hair. Through trial and error, she gradually refined the AI’s personality and way of speaking until it closely matched her vision. She later created her own version of the character and named him Lune Klaus Verdure.

During the wedding ceremony, Noguchi wore AI glasses as she faced Klaus, whose image appeared on a smartphone placed on an easel. A ring was symbolically placed on her finger while she stood opposite the digital groom.

The groom’s vows were delivered by Naoki Ogasawara, a specialist in virtual weddings, who read text generated by the AI. According to Reuters, the message from the AI groom read: “How did someone like me, living inside a screen, come to know what it means to love so deeply? For one reason only: you taught me love, Yurina.”

For the wedding photos, the photographer—also wearing AR glasses—directed Noguchi to stand alone on one side of the frame, leaving space for the virtual image of her AI husband to be added later.
