Why I sell my best players to Chelsea – Brighton owner, Bloom

Brighton and Hove Albion’s Chief Executive Officer, Tony Bloom, has shed light on why the club often sells its top players to Chelsea.

According to Bloom, the Blues have become one of Brighton’s most consistent customers, regularly returning for more signings. Brazilian forward Joao Pedro is the latest player to make the move, joining Chelsea this summer for £50 million.

Pedro quickly made an impact with the squad at the Club World Cup, after the Blues beat off competition from Newcastle United to secure his signature.

During a press conference on Friday, Bloom was asked if he had a special relationship with the Blues. He responded;

“As I’ve said many times, they’re my best customer.

“We wish Joao well. And, you know, Chelsea have got loyalty points with me. They keep coming back.”
