“Why Always August?” – Yinka Ayefele Laments Recurring Tragedies Linked to One Month

Veteran gospel singer and broadcaster, Dr. Yinka Ayefele, has voiced his deep worry over a string of painful experiences in his life, all of which appear to have occurred in the month of August.

Ayefele, who recently suffered another major setback after a fire outbreak gutted his Fresh FM 105.9 and Blast FM 98.3 radio stations in Ibadan on August 15, 2025, reflected on the unsettling coincidence while addressing his listeners and supporters on his radio station.

According to him, the latest incident has revived memories of past personal tragedies, each inexplicably tied to the same month. He recalled the death of his younger brother, Oluwole Ayefele—then head of the Anti-Robbery Squad in Ore—who lost his life in a fatal accident on August 2. He further recounted the demolition of his popular Music House in Ibadan on August 19, 2018, by the Oyo State Government.

Expressing his concern, Ayefele lamented:
“There is something I don’t understand. Some years ago, my immediate younger brother died in an accident on August 2. Also, seven years ago, on August 19, my Music House was demolished. Now, on August 15, 2025, my radio stations caught fire. It was the men of God who came to pray for me that even pointed out this pattern to me. Why always August? I don’t know what is going on.”

Despite the painful trend, the singer maintained a spirit of gratitude, thanking God for sparing lives during the latest incident and appreciating the unwavering support of his fans, friends, and well-wishers. He noted that their encouragement continues to strengthen him through the recurring challenges.
