What We Are Calling For Is That The Situation Of Al-Majiri Now Has Crossed The Lines -Gumi Cries Out

Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, has raised fresh concerns over the worsening condition of the Al-Majiri system in northern Nigeria, warning that the situation has gone beyond acceptable limits and now requires urgent intervention.

Speaking in an interview with Trust TV, Gumi said the increasing number of Al-Majiri children roaming the streets without care, education, or protection is a major social crisis that must not be ignored. He noted that what was once a traditional system of religious learning has been abused and allowed to deteriorate into widespread neglect and suffering.

According to him, authorities, religious leaders, and parents must collectively take responsibility to reform the system and protect the children involved. “What we are calling for is that the situation of Al-Majiri now has crossed the lines,” Gumi said. He added, These children are exposed to hunger, abuse, and danger, and if we continue like this, the consequences will be very serious for the society.
