We need to be better, Ndidi reflects on Besiktas’ loss to Fenerbahce

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has shared his thoughts on Besiktas’ painful derby loss to Fenerbahce.

The Black Eagles surrendered a two-goal lead to fall 3-2 in a fiercely contested encounter on Sunday night.

Besiktas started brightly, finding the net twice through Bilal Touré and Emirhan Topcu. However, their momentum was halted when Orkun Kökçü received a red card for a reckless tackle in the 25th minute.

Fenerbahce capitalised on the numerical advantage, scoring three times through İsmail Yüksek, Marco Asensio, and Jhon Duran.

Reflecting on the defeat, Ndidi admitted that Kökçü’s sending-off changed the course of the game.

“The match was going well for us. We knew we had to do our best. We even went 2-0 up. When we conceded a goal after the red card, we gave them the momentum they needed,” Ndidi told the club’s official website.

“We wanted to stay in the match. We know we have quality. But we need to stay together. We need to be united — fans and players. We can create a situation where we can achieve great things this season.”
