Two siblings have gained attention online after opening up about their personal journey and decision to relocate from Nigeria to the United Kingdom in search of safety and a more open life.

In a video they shared on social media, the pair explained that although the recording was made months earlier, they only recently decided to make it public after settling into their new environment.

One of the siblings spoke about the emotional toll of living in hiding back home, saying: “Back in Nigeria I was always exhausted from hiding who I am. I’m not going to lie to you. But over here in the UK, I’m trying to build a life for myself,”

They also spoke about going through the asylum process and the challenges that came with it.

“I also went through the asylum process and I know how stressful the waiting is. I’m really grateful I got my status. My brother stayed with me throughout all this, so I’m going to stay with him too until he makes his decision. I just want him to live in safety and not fear,” they added.
