While some critics claimed the outfit appeared see-through and questioned its appropriateness for a pastors wife, others defended her right to dress as she pleased. Addressing the backlash from the pulpit, Pastor Jamal Bryant firmly defended his wife, insisting the dress was not transparent but flesh-coloured. He dismissed critics as insecure, jealous, and petty, adding that they ignored the more important outcome of the event the millions raised to support Black students and HBCUs.
