US DOJ Releases 30,000 More Epstein Files, Addresses Trump Photo Controversy

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has released an additional 30,000 documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein following court orders under the recently enacted Epstein Files Transparency Act.

The files include photos, videos, investigative documents, and emails. The DOJ emphasized that the documents contain unverified claims and that careful review processes have been followed to protect victims.

Files Released Under New Transparency Law

The release comes after President Trump signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act. On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, President Trump signed into law H.R. 4405, the “Epstein Files Transparency Act,” which requires the Attorney General to release all documents and records in possession of the Department of Justice relating to Jeffrey Epstein, and for other purposes.

Previously, courts had denied requests to release Epstein-related records due to legal and privacy concerns.

The law gave the DOJ the legal basis to proceed with releasing thousands of pages of material, which the department says it is reviewing meticulously.

According to the DOJ, hundreds of thousands of additional pages are still expected to be released in phases.

The documents are being reviewed by more than 200 lawyers, who check each file and photo to ensure that information about victims or potential victims is redacted.

Trump Photo Briefly Removed and Restored

The photograph of President Donald Trump was included in the files released on December 19, 2025, as part of the Department of Justice’s effort to comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

The Southern District of New York temporarily removed the image after it was flagged for potential victim-protection concerns.

The photo was then restored on Sunday after officials determined none of Epstein’s victims were in the image, the department said.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche responded to the removal of the photo, saying that the files were removed to protect victims.

“There were a number of photographs that were pulled down after being released on Friday, That’s because a judge in New York has ordered us to listen to any victim or victim rights group, if they have any concerns about the material that we’re putting up,” Blanche said.

The Department of Justice said some of the released files are untrue, defending Trump.

“Some of these documents contain untrue and sensationalist claims made against President Trump that were submitted to the FBI right before the 2020 election. To be clear: the claims are unfounded and false, and if they had a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already,” read the DOJ statement on X.

On Monday, President Trump spoke to journalists, emphasizing the importance of the Epstein files. He said the material was ‘just used to deflect against tremendous success.’
