The U.S. Embassy in Nigeria has announced the temporary closure of its Abuja office for routine business due to potential protests in the city.

This was disclosed by the U.S Mission in Nigeria on Thursday.

According to the post, the closure will last until Monday, March 9, 2026, affecting both visa and American Citizen Services (ACS) appointments.

Visa appointments originally scheduled for March 4 and 5, as well as ACS appointments scheduled for March 5, have been rescheduled to next week.

The Embassy advised visa applicants to check their email or AVITs account for their new appointment dates. ACS applicants are also urged to monitor their email for updated scheduling.

Applicants who do not see a new appointment are encouraged to contact the Embassy via the Visa Navigator for assistance.

The U.S. mission in Nigeria urged the public to continue monitoring its website and social media channels for further updates.
