UK-Ghana Partnership Launches Third Edition of Training for Media Excellence in Science, Technology, and Innovation Reporting

The British High Commission in collaboration with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology (MEST), and the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technologies and Innovation are collaborating to strengthen science, technology, and innovation (STI) reporting through the UK–Ghana Capacity Building for Media Excellence initiative. 

We are inviting Ghanaian journalists and social media content creators to apply for a transformative training programme designed to enhance the quality and depth of STI reportage and empower storytellers to shape the future of innovation.

This initiative aims to equip media professionals with the skills to turn complex scientific and technological concepts into clear, engaging, and accurate stories for diverse audiences. Participants will gain expertise in critical areas such as climate change, environmental sustainability, frontier technologies, agriculture, health, and energy delivering impactful content that drives informed conversations and inspires progress.

Key Features of the Training:

  • Residential Bootcamp: A 4-day intensive training camp for over 25 participants.
  • Digital Skills Development: Learn social media analytics, short-form video production, and platform-specific strategies for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and X.
  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with leading researchers, policymakers, and innovators from Ghana and the UK.
  • Funding Pitch: Participants will have the chance to pitch for grants to amplify research stories through traditional and digital media.

Eligibility:

  • Ghana-based journalists from print, broadcast, or digital media.
  • Social media content creators with active platforms focused on STI themes.
  • Applicants must demonstrate interest or experience in STI reporting and commit to the full duration of the residential training.
