Ugandan Woman Arrested in Ethiopia for Smuggling Drugs in Sanitary Pads at Airport

A Ugandan national, Mukisa Setella, has been arrested in Addis Ababa after authorities allegedly discovered cocaine concealed in a sanitary pad during a transit stop.

According to reports, the substance weighed approximately 500 grams.

Setella was said to be travelling from Lilongwe and was en route to Manila when she was intercepted at the airport.

The discovery was made during routine security checks conducted by personnel working under National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), alongside other security agencies.

Authorities stated that the drugs had been carefully hidden inside a sanitary pad.

Following her arrest, the suspect was handed over to Ethiopian Federal Police, where a specialized narcotics control and criminal investigation team has taken over the case.
