The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced it will resume the enforcement of Tinted Glass Permit on January 2nd 2026, noting that that at no point did the court restrain it from enforcing the provisions of the law regarding the use of tinted glass on vehicles.

A statement by the Force’s PRO, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the decision to resume the enforcement of tinted glass permit follows the disturbing rise in criminal activities perpetrated with vehicles fitted with unauthorised tinted glass.

“It is important to clarify that at no point did the court restrain the Nigeria Police Force from enforcing the provisions of the law regarding the use of tinted glass on vehicles.

“Recent trends, however, reveal a disturbing rise in criminal activities perpetrated with the aid of vehicles fitted with unauthorised tinted glass. Some individuals and organised criminal groups have exploited this gap to conceal their identities and facilitate crimes ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping and other violent crimes.”

Any moment from now, we are going to push it to the National Assembly, and we will also need stakeholders to participate in the public hearing,” Osanipin said.
