Two Killed, Three Injured as Gunmen Attack Community Guards in Plateau

By Tgnews Reporter

At least two people have been killed and three others injured after suspected gunmen attacked a civilian guard post in Mangor, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The attack reportedly occurred at about 10 p.m. on Sunday in Angwan Tsarki, a residential area within a Christian farming community, where local volunteers were said to be keeping night watch.

According to a report by conflict reporter Masara Kim, one of the survivors sent a message stating that gunmen had attacked the community, killing two people and injuring three others, including the sender.

A video accompanying the report showed some of the injured victims receiving treatment at a local hospital, while distressed residents, including women, gathered outside the facility.

Mangor, located in western Bokkos, has experienced repeated outbreaks of violence in recent years. Kim linked the latest incident to previous attacks in the area, including a 2013 attack in which more than 27 people were reportedly killed.

The reported attack also followed separate shooting incidents in South Jos and Dorowa Babuje. Kim further reported that a pastor was killed while travelling to church in the area on September 20, 2026.

The latest violence has renewed concerns over the security of communities in Bokkos and other parts of Plateau State that have experienced recurrent attacks.

As of the time of filing the report, the Plateau State Police Command spokesperson, Alfred Alabo, had not responded to calls and a message seeking confirmation of the incident.

Authorities are yet to officially confirm the identities of the victims, the number of attackers or the circumstances surrounding the attack.
