Two people have lost their lives, and 19 others sustained injuries as a result of a multi-vehicle accident on the N1 highway near the Fiesta Royale Hotel on Monday, February 23, 2026.

As reported in a Facebook post by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Tuesday, February 24, rescuers from the GNFS National Headquarters were sent to the location after a distress call was received at 19:58 GMT.

The incident involved a Kia motor truck (GG 1304-18), a Sprinter bus (GX 8325-13), and a Volvo trailer (GT 7856-20). Emergency teams worked to extricate victims and deliver immediate medical assistance.

Among the 21 individuals involved, two perished at the scene, while 19 were transported to Achimota Hospital and the 37 Military Hospital for medical treatment.

“The service, working alongside other emergency responders, secured and managed the scene, prevented secondary incidents, and cleared the roadway to restore traffic flow,” the statement said.

The GNFS further noted that the cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The service also expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased, wished for a swift recovery for the injured, and urged all motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and prioritise road safety.
