Troops have arrested a suspect believed to be working with kidnappers in villages in Kuje, an Area Council on the outskirts of the Abuja metropolis.

Troops of a Special Operation code-named G-7 were advancing when the suspect sped off on a motorcycle into the bushes to inform gunmen of the troops’ location

The arrest came on launching the 3rd phase of an operation against terrorists in Abuja and neighboring states.

The simultaneous operation, code-named G-7 or Group of 7, brings together operatives from the Army, Navy, Department of State Services, Civil Defence, Immigration, Vigilantes, and Hunters.

The operational headquarters of the plan is in Abuja with the joint operation troops all assembling there.

The mission is to raid camps used by kidnappers in remote communities in the area.

The Security Forces advanced through difficult terrains, going past several villages.

During the combing operation, the man suspected to be an informant to one of the kidnapping gangs in the area was arrested.

He was arrested shortly after he informed his gang of the troop's movement.

Some of the rescued kidnap victims were also given first aid treatment. They were rescued by the troops during the operation tagged G-7. Their captors could no longer hold them because the Security agencies were closing in on them.

A recurring challenge encountered by Security Forces in operations like this is that of informants working for criminal groups who often give out information about troops’ movement. It’s unclear how security forces intend to overcome the challenge.
