Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has reacted positively to the club’s signing of Joshua Zirkzee.

Brown believes Zirkzee, who recently joined Manchester United from Bologna for £33 million, will be a valuable addition, especially in supporting fellow striker Rasmus Hojlund. The 23-year-old Dutch forward is described by Brown as a “very good option.”

“I’m very happy with the signing,” Brown told the Euro Thrash podcast. “He’s definitely a player we needed and he’s young. I think he’s going to be good, and it will be interesting to see. Hojlund hasn’t scored enough goals; that’s clear. Everything else in his game is solid.

“It’s great to have a competitive edge with Zirkzee joining the squad. This is an option we needed. Last season, if we needed reinforcement, we had to look to the youth team.”
