TRAGEDY OF WEALTH: Billionaire’s Children Arraigned Over Father’s Murder in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arraigned two children of prominent Anambra-born businessman and multi-billionaire, Chief Lucky Adimike (also identified in court documents as Adimike Godwin), alongside a third suspect, over his alleged murder in Abuja.

The suspects, Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany, and Comfort Ajibade, were on Monday brought before the FCT High Court 13 on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide in connection with the death of the businessman.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred on May 15, 2026, at the deceased’s residence in Guzape, Abuja.

Police said a distress call was received from a relative who became concerned after repeated attempts to reach the businessman proved unsuccessful. Detectives who responded to the scene reportedly found him unconscious in his room with multiple stab wounds.

He was immediately rushed to Karu General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead.

Following the directive of the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, investigators launched a comprehensive probe into the incident. Five persons were initially arrested, including the deceased’s driver and gateman.

However, after the conclusion of investigations, police charged Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany, and Comfort Ajibade to court.

The three defendants face a four-count charge, including criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide and culpable homicide relating to the death of Adimike Godwin.

The court also heard additional charges brought under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act against the defendants.

At the end of proceedings, the court adjourned the matter until September 30, 2026, for further hearing and ordered that the accused persons be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending trial.

The FCT Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice for victims of crime while upholding the constitutional rights of all persons involved in the judicial process.

The case has continued to attract widespread public attention, given the prominence of the deceased businessman and the shocking allegation that members of his immediate family are among those standing trial over his death.
