Toyota Is Working On A Hydrogen-powered Land Cruiser SUV - Report - autojosh

Toyota is reportedly working on a hydrogen-powered Land Cruiser 300 Series SUV, according CarExpert.

It told CarExpert there are possibilities to adapt [hydrogen combustion tech] into big vehicles, including Land Cruiser. 

Toyota said the advantage of the technology can be utilised for those vehicles, including high towing and high loading.

Japanese brand has already unveiled a HiAce prototype with hydrogen-fuelled internal combustion engine (ICE). 

HiAce prototype uses a modified version of 3.4-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol offered in Land Cruiser 300 Series in other markets.

Toyota has already giving us a glimpse of production-looking all-electric Land Cruiser Se BEV Concept.

Japanese car brand Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) is already exploring and developing hydrogen combustion technology for some of its big vehicles, including the latest-generation Land Cruiser 300 Series SUV, CarExpert reports.

Speaking on the advantages of hydrogen combustion technology with Australian website, CarExpert, the president of Toyota’s Hydrogen Factory, Mitsumasa Yamagata said :

“There are possibilities to adapt [hydrogen combustion technology] into big vehicles, including LandCruiser,” adding that “I said again, this advantage of the technology can be utilised for those vehicles including high towing and high loading.

Toyota has already unveiled a HiAce prototype with hydrogen-fuelled internal combustion engine (ICE), which uses a modified version of the 3.4-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol offered in the Land Cruiser 300 Series in other markets.

The hydrogen-fuelled V6 engine, produces 120kW (161-hp) and 354Nm of torque, which is about 248-hp and 295Nm less than the petrol-fuelled version inside the latest Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series with 409 horsepower and 649Nm of torque.

In addition to the claimed hydrogen-powered Land Cruiser, Toyota has already giving us a glimpse of production-looking Land Cruiser Se BEV Concept, which is the first electric model of its iconic off-road SUV.
