Tottenham played out a 0-0 draw with Everton and go four league games without a goal.

Spurs struggled to create many clear-cut chances during the contest, with the Toffees defence holding firm and Jordan Pickford making a couple of strong saves.

Tottenham fans were visibly frustrated watching the contest, with jeers heard at full time as Roberto De Zerbi's side struggled to find any fluency.

The result leaves Everton inside the top half on six points, while Spurs sit in 17th.

The game started with Jan Paul van Hecke having a great opportunity early on from a set-piece, but he blasted his close-range effort over Pickford's bar.

Spurs started very positively, taking the game to the away side and dominating possession inside Everton's half.

The Toffees weathered the early Tottenham storm and started to create some half-decent chances.

They got a free kick just before half-time after Mateus Fernandes pulled back Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall on the edge of the penalty area.

James Garner let one fly, but Antonin Kinsky was equal to the strike, despite it bouncing awkwardly in front of the Czech.

The second half started with Fernandes having an audacious effort from distance that was easily saved by Pickford, as Spurs' time without a goal in the league this season ticked past five hours.

Not long after, Tyrique George made an excellent run down the left-hand side and hung a brilliant ball up to the far post.

Thierno Barry rose, but Kinsky denied his header by making himself big.

With 25 minutes to go, George made way for Jack Grealish to try and change the tempo for Everton going forward.

Moments after the Englishman's introduction, Kinsky made a horrendous error, playing the ball to Dewsbury-Hall, who was one-on-one with the Spurs keeper.

Fortunately for the Czech, the midfielder fluffed his lines and hit his shot straight into him, in what could have been a horrendous error.

Dewsbury-Hall nearly turned provider after he picked out former Spurs winger Brennan Johnson, but the Welshman fired his effort over the bar.

Substitute Lucas Bergvall went close with a couple of minutes of normal time to go.

The Swede tried to bend a curling, right-footed effort into the bottom corner, but Pickford got down and saved well.

It's another disappointing result for a new-look Tottenham side, who despite spending heavily in the summer, continue their drought without scoring for nearly seven hours.

Everton extend their unbeaten run, with one win and three draws.
