As the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches North America, Toronto Public Health has unveiled a football-themed extension of its long-running “CondomTO” initiative, offering free limited-edition condoms to fans expected to flood the city during the tournament.

The campaign is designed to address concerns over increased sexual activity and the potential rise in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) during major international sporting events.

The condoms, available free of charge at four sexual health clinics and several community partner locations while supplies last, come in six football-inspired designs aimed at blending public health awareness with the excitement of the tournament.

One of the most talked-about designs, dubbed “Peaches & Cream,” features playful peach and eggplant imagery and has already gained attention on social media.

“Major events bring people together emotionally and physically,” a spokesperson for Toronto Public Health said in a statement. “We want fans to remember the matches for the right reasons, not for a preventable infection.”

This is not the first time the city has tied safer-sex campaigns to sporting events. During the 2015 Pan American and ParaPan American Games, Toronto introduced similar themed condoms as part of a public health awareness drive.

However, the scale of the World Cup is expected to be much larger, with Canada co-hosting the tournament alongside Mexico and the United States. Toronto is scheduled to host six matches, including a Round of 32 fixture.

Local businesses and fan zones are preparing for heavy crowds, late-night celebrations and a vibrant festival atmosphere throughout the competition.

Fans can collect the free condoms at participating sexual health clinics and community hubs across Toronto without appointments or registration.

Health officials say the message behind the initiative is simple: enjoy the celebration, but stay safe.
