Titus Ngeno: From Renewable Energy Expert to 2027 Bomet Senate Aspirant

Titus Kipkorir Ngeno is a renewable energy specialist, published author, and aspirant for the Bomet County Senate seat in the 2027 General Election.

He is currently involved in the development of the first utility-scale wind energy project in Bomet County, implemented through a special purpose vehicle (SPV), Mutarakwa Hills Wind Power Project Ltd.

In addition to his professional work, Ngeno is a published author of “Renewable and Green Hydrogen in Africa” and “Climate Change and Finance in Africa,” which examine Africa’s clean energy transition, the challenges of climate finance, and opportunities for sustainable growth.

He is registered as an Environmental Impact Associate Expert with NEMA and a member of professional bodies, including KETRB, KEREA, IRENA, and the Environment Institute of Kenya.

Titus Ngeno Educational Background

Ngeno attended Mother of Apostles Seminary in Eldoret before completing his secondary education at Longisa Boys’ High School.

He later joined the Technical University of Mombasa, earning a Bachelor of Technology in Renewable Energy and Environmental Physics with Second Class Honours (Upper Division).

Ngeno is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Renewable Energy and Technology at the Multimedia University of Kenya.

While at university, he actively participated in student leadership and vied for several positions within the Technical University of Mombasa Students’ Organisation (TUMSO), including Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the TUMSO Parliament.

Career Background

Ngeno serves as an expert in Energy Planning and Economics under the Sustainable Energy Technical Assistance (SETA) Programme, funded by the European Union and implemented through the Ministry of Energy.

His work focuses on County Energy Plans, bioenergy resource assessments, energy efficiency strategies, and policy alignment at the devolved level.

Ngeno worked with Greenmillenia Energy Kenya and Romer Environmental Protection Limited, gaining foundational experience through internships at the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) and KenGen’s Ngong Wind Farm.

In addition to his professional work, Ngeno is a published author. His books, “Renewable and Green Hydrogen in Africa” and “Climate Change and Finance in Africa,” examine Africa’s clean energy transition, the challenges of climate finance, and opportunities for sustainable growth.

He is currently involved in the development of the first utility-scale wind energy project in Bomet County, the 70 MW Mutarakwa Hills Wind Power Project, implemented through a special purpose vehicle (SPV), Mutarakwa Hills Wind Power Project Ltd.

Beyond wind energy, Ngeno is also engaged in small hydropower development in Konoin Sub-County, including the 2 MW Somorio Hydropower Project, developed under Somorio Hydro Projects Ltd.

Achievements

Ngeno is leading the development of Bomet County’s first utility-scale wind energy project, the 70 MW Mutarakwa Hills Wind Power Project, which will boost local employment, revenue, and energy security.

He has also developed a hydropower project, including the 2 MW Somorio Hydropower Project in Konoin Sub-County, to promote rural electrification.

Ngeno has also championed decentralised clean energy solutions, including the installation of over 20 biogas plants in Nyeri and Murang’a counties, reducing reliance on firewood and promoting environmental sustainability.

As an author, he published books examining Africa’s clean energy transition and climate finance opportunities.
