President Bola Tinubu has called on INEC to use Saturday’s Osun governorship election to demonstrate its preparedness for the 2027 general elections.

In a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu urged INEC to ensure the election is “transparent, free and fair” and charged security agencies to provide maximum protection for voters and officials.

He also urged Osun residents to come out and vote peacefully. The election features 15 candidates, including Governor Adeleke (Accord), APC’s Oyebamiji, and ADC’s Salaam.

Key Points:

The Osun election is a litmus test for INEC’s 2027 readiness.
Tinubu’s call for transparency may reassure voters.
Security agencies face pressure to ensure a peaceful poll.
The outcome could shape perceptions of electoral integrity.
Voter turnout will be closely watched.

With Tinubu’s challenge issued, the question is whether INEC and security agencies will meet the president’s expectations—and deliver a credible election.
