Davido 3 tribes

Superstar singer, David Adeleke also known as Davido has erroneously claimed that there are only three tr!bes in Nigeria.

The Omo Baba Olowo made this statement while hosting American streamer, Kai Cenat in Lagos where he said the triibes are Yoruba, Igbo and Benin.

Davido explained that he is an embodiment of all three triibes because his father is a Yoruba, his late mother is partly from Igbo and Benin.

The music star said: “We have three triibes in Nigeria. There’s Yoruba. My father is Yoruba. And in Nigeria, wherever your father is from, that’s where you are really from. So my father is Yoruba. My wife is from Igbo. And my mother is from Benin. I’m three triibes in one.”

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, there are 371 triibes in Nigeria, and this data negates the claim by Davido.

Famous Nollywood actress and content creator, Adunni Ade has said that she finds speaking Yoruba language draining.

The mother of two who sat down for a chat in a recent episode of the Channels Television programme, Morning Brief, added that it sometimes hurts her nerves.

Adunni, born to a German-American mother and a Nigerian father of Yoruba descent, said she prefers English which is Nigeria’s lingua franca.

She said; “Speaking Yoruba is draining, sometimes it hurts my nerves. The first language that we know in Nigeria is English. Let’s put all the other languages aside. Some are even rude with it and ask me to speak Yoruba.

I really don’t see how speaking Yoruba will make them [fans] feel better. Maybe they just want to hear me speak Yoruba. A lot of times people tell me ‘You don’t really look like what you sound like’.”

Adunni, however, appreciated that her father for bringing her to Nigeria to learn the culture, language, and everything about the country.
